As a business owner, you’ve probably been told you need to promote your business on social media because that’s where all the attention is at. So you probably set up a Facebook page & Instagram page but have you ever thought about creating a YouTube channel to market your business?
A lot of companies promote on Instagram because it’s easy. All you have to do is take a photo, add some tags and you’re done. Because of this low barrier to entry, there is going to be ALOT of competition making it harder for potential customers to find your business.
This is what makes YouTube very attractive. For YouTube, you have to plan and create a video, do some light editing & upload it. Because of all this work, hardly any business owners take advantage of YouTube to promote their business.
Because of this high barrier of entry, making your business stand out on YouTube is much easier than FaceBook & Instagram.
In this article, we are going to show you how to make create and market your business on YouTube in a simple way. We will break things down into these 3 sections
Finding your niche
Creating a plan
Executing your plan with consistency
Finding your niche
More than likely, you’ve probably had your niche picked out but it won’t hurt to zero in on it a bit further.
Get a piece of paper and ask yourself, what type of video content will I be posting?
- Sales Videos
- Product/Service Showcase
- Customer Testimonials
Take some type to write down 1-2 of these to use a content idea for your YouTube channel. Picking too many of these may overwhelm you at first, which is why we urge you to only pick 1-2 max. You may also come up with a few yourself. We do not have a full list of video types above.
After you’ve done this, you are now ready to create a simple video uploading plan.
Creating A Plan
Now, before you even think about picking up a camera, you must create an uploading schedule.
Creating an uploading schedule is the key to running a successful YouTube channel. Not having one will cause a lot of frustration and time wasted, which we don’t want to do.
So how do I create a video uploading schedule? Easy, follow the steps below!
First you want to look at your weekly schedule and find 1-2 days you can set aside some time for YouTube.
Once you have your days picked out, you next want to assign your video types to those days. Keep doing that until you have an entire month worth of content planned out. It should look like this.
Once this is set in stone, you are ready to start executing your plan.
Executing Your Plan
This is the step where a lot of people freeze up. They know what to do, and can see the light at the end of the tunnel but they are too scared to take the first leap. Because of this fear, most people don’t execute on their plan. They will just come up with excuses such as “I got busy” or “it was too hard/confusing”.
So the question is, how do I avoid procrastinating on my plan?
Easy! Before executing the plan you’ve just created, I want you to upload 1-2 videos of your face, introducing yourself and sharing your YouTube channels purpose. You can also share about what to expect on this channel.
Doing this simple exercise will make the task of managing a YouTube channel look & feel extremely easy.
When executing your plan it is very important to stay consistent. Not only will it allow you to get more content out there which further exposes your brand but the YouTube algorithm loves consistency. It shows that you are active & real. In exchange for this authentic experience you are giving for its users, it will reward you by showing your videos to potential customers.
This is why I highly urge people to stay consistent when working with YouTube. Even if it is 1 video a week.
Hopefully you learned a few things on how to successfully market your business on YouTube.
